The DSRs are a shining example of the continual refinement of powered speakers coming out of Yamaha. They are a delight to work with, with features working in the background to make you sound better, maximize your power, and protect your system. And you'll never hear bass frequencies as consistent, as loud, and as clear, as in the DSR118W. In addition to the elegant design and perfectly focused, smooth, and clear sound—even in under less than ideal or predictable conditions—the DSR series deliver solid performance and outstanding quality every time.
So I had a chance to audition Yamaha’s new DSR 115s for about an hour today and thought I would give you my first impression of them. First off, these boxes have a very nice and clean look – similar to the QSC Ks but with a simpler mixer section. The handles with the Yamaha logo on them is nice as well as the finish. You can choose to have the front status LED on or off – a nice touch. A contour switch is provided to give a low and high frequency boost for playback at lower levels and quite a bit of on board power (1300 watts) is included. They weigh in at 60lbs or so but the handles are well placed and they are not too tough to handle and move around.
