| The X7 isn't as pretty or as glossy as some of its rivals, but if you want a big, good-quality screen, great sound and an unfeasibly massive battery life, this is the media player for you. | |

| The user interface is responsive making the navigation simpler. Jumping from videos to music or vice verse is very snappy. It would have been better if X7 was provided with built-in accelerometer. Same like its predecessor V5, even X7 lacks Web browser and Wi-Fi. The audio recorder, notepad, image viewer, movie player, calculator etc work sufficiently well. In a word, it’s “spectacular”. Pros: Large storage capacity Excellent battery life Amazing audio quality Cons: Proprietary connector No Wi-Fi, Web browser and support for apps Low-resolution display | |

| If I had not run into this transfer problem I would have kept the device. My initial reactions and thoughts would probably remain unchanged and the X7 would be a device where shuffle starts and I never look at it again. It's just to awkwardly sized and designed to use it in a truly portable manner and I didn't even bother mentioning the screen resolution and videos because I was so underwhelmed by what I saw after looking at their demo videos. UCI's will eventually be created and if you need a large capacity player and do not use a MAC, this maybe what you've been waiting for. If you buy this expecting it to replace something more current and you plan to moan all day about why it doesn't have this or have that, close the COWON X7 page now and forget they even made this device. | |

| Cowon's X7 is the definition of a mixed bag. The overall design is lovely, but the low screen resolution, quirky UI and use of a propriety connection cable dampens our excitement. That said, we looped a video for around nine hours before seeing any hints of exhaustion, leading us to believe that you may honestly get triple-digit battery life if sticking to audio alone. Having 160GB of onboard storage is also a godsend for album collectors, and the world-class audio quality will more than satisfy any budding audiophiles. (We should note that Cowon's shipping a 120GB version elsewhere in the world, but only the black 160GB unit in America.) In the end, this unit is little more than a multimedia player; there's no WiFi, no web browser, and no support for apps of any kind. If you're looking for that, there's a Zune HD or iPod touch waiting with your name on it. But if you're looking for something that's simply the best at being simple, the X7 is tough to beat. | |
